“Inner Fit”
We live in a society where we are bombarded by commercials, magazines and advertisements that flaunt an image of perfection. We are convinced that if we have shinier hair, wrinkle free skin, toned bodies, faster cars and bigger houses, then our lives are more successful. We are constantly striving for external perfection. Have you bought into this message?
When was the last time you saw a commercial advertising products that enhance your inner growth? What is the driving force behind our journey to unreachable perfection? We are seeking a constantly changing illusion. We chase this illusion until we realize it is unattainable.
As fitness competitors and models, we spend endless hours sculpting our muscles and watching our nutritional programs like a hawk watches its prey. Physically we are at the top of our game, but what about our internal fitness? When was the last time you assessed your spiritual, mental and emotional fitness level? Being fit should be measured beyond the amount of push-ups we can do, or the size of someone’s bicep. As you continue on this fitness journey, I challenge you to take an assessment of your life. Discover ways to challenge your personal growth. Ask yourself if you are truly living a fit life?
1. Do you value your self-worth based on your appearance/physique?
2. If you lost all your materialistic possessions, could you move on with life and start all over?
3. When was the last time you enjoyed the simple things in life?
4. If someone asks you who you are, how would you describe yourself?
5. What will people say about you one day when you pass away?
6. When was the last time you did a kind deed for someone?
7. In the morning, are you grateful for another day? Or do you complain about all the things that you have to get done?
Being fit and competing is rewarding in many ways, but when the stage lights are off there has to more to life. I challenge you to seek internal gratitude and value life beyond the glamour.
